USAS User’s Manual
Chapter 12 – Understanding Financial Tables (continued)

How Financial Tables Are Accessed

About this Procedure

To view the data in a financial table, a user must enter an access path on the inquiry screen which accesses that financial table. Access paths are subsets of the financial table control key. For example, the different access paths for the Appropriation table are made up of different combinations of that table’s control key. The more detailed the access path, the more specific the information accessed.

Control Key

Agy AY Appn Num Appd Fund Fund Prog Code Org Code FY Balance Type
025 95 30000 0001   3000 2000 95 01

Access Paths

Access paths include:

Agency, Appn Year, Appn Num (minimum access path)
Agency, Appn Year, Appn Num, Appd Fund
Agency, Appn Year, Appn Num, Appd Fund, Prog Code
Agency, Appn Year, Appn Num, Appd Fund, Org Code
Agency, Appn Year, Appn Num, Appd Fund, Prog Code, Org Code

When accessing the balances from the Appropriation table, the user may choose to use the minimum access path-agency, appropriation year, and appropriation number-and scroll through all the records containing those control key elements. USAS will retrieve the first set of records from the table that match the entered access path. The user can then scroll through all of the records matching that access path by using the F8 key.
