Key Fields: AGENCY NUMBER, APPLICANT NUMBER

Note: Use this screen to record military service information about the applicant.

Step Action
1 If you did not link from any other screen, access HMFU3.
2 Enter R in the SUBCOMMAND field.
3 Enter the following fields as required:
AGENCY NUMBER (Key)
APPLICANT NUMBER (Key)
Enter the applicant identification number from HMFU1 (Applicant Identification).
NAME (Display)
The applicant’s name.
VET NAME (Required)
Enter the veteran’s full first name, middle initial, and full last name.
VETERAN STATUS (Optional)
Indicates the applicant’s veteran status.
N No
U Unknown (default)
Y Yes
VETERAN PREFERENCE (Optional)
Indicates the applicant’s veteran preference.
V Eligible veteran
W Veteran’s surviving spouse who has not remarried
O Orphan of veteran who was killed while on active duty
N Unknown (default)
N Not eligible
SELECTIVE SERVICE STATUS (Optional)
Indicates the applicant’s selective service status.
Blank field Not applicable
1 Subject to call
2 Not subject to call
3 Active reserve
4 Active duty
5 Inactive reserve
6 Veteran
SERVICE BRANCH (Optional)
Indicates the applicant’s branch of service.

AUX Auxiliary Service

HONORABLY DISCHARGED (Optional)
Indicates whether the veteran was honorably discharged from the military.

MILITARY DISABILITY INDICATOR (Optional)
Indicates if the veteran has a military disability. The American Disability Act (ADA) requires this field to be “masked” once it is entered, which means it will not display.

DATE ENTER ACTIVE DUTY (Optional)
The date the veteran entered military service.
SEPARATION DATE THIS PERIOD (Optional)
The date the individual was discharged from the military.
NET SERVICE THIS PERIOD (Display)
The number of years, months and days for the veteran’s last period of active service.
TOTAL PRIOR ACTIVE SERVICE (Optional)
The total number of years, months and days for the veteran’s prior active service.
TOTAL ACTIVE DUTY DAYS (Display)
The total number of years, months and days for the veteran’s active service.
SEPARATION CODE (Optional)
A four-digit, agency-defined code that defines the details of the veteran’s discharge.
