Meal and Lodging Exceptions
Exceptions for Certain Governmental Meetings or Conferences Outside Texas
The governor may designate one or more state employees to represent the state at a government meeting or conference held outside Texas, per Texas Government Code, Section 660.205(a). The designated employees will be reimbursed for the actual meal and lodging expenses incurred while attending the meeting or conference. If the expenses are incurred within the contiguous United States, the reimbursement is limited to twice the amount that could be reimbursed for regular state employee travel. The reimbursement may be paid out of the appropriations for the employing state agencies, per Texas Government Code, Section 660.205(b).
