This chapter explains the error correction, or editing, process.
Edit Modes
Transactions can be entered in three edit modes. The edit mode chosen for transaction entry controls the correction process. The edit modes and effects on the correction process follow:
- Edit Mode 0-no online editing or posting. All editing occurs during the nightly batch cycle.
- Edit Mode 1-online editing. Data-related errors are detected immediately. Fund control edits and financial table posting occurs during the nightly batch cycle.
- Edit Mode 2-online editing and posting. All errors are detected immediately. Financial table posting takes place immediately.
Note: Edit Modes 0, 1, and 2 are available for online transaction entry. Transactions processed through tape submission are entered in Edit Mode 0 only.

Errors may be identified through the following methods:- Control Reports
- 530 View Batch Header screen
- Notification through the DAFR7700 USAS Unapproved Documents Report
