How to Interrupt a Screen From Another Screen

About this Procedure

This procedure demonstrates how to use the INTERRUPT function to go to a screen or profile from another screen or profile.

  1. From a screen or profile, press the ‘HOME’ key to get to the Link To field.
  2. Type the desired Screen ID in the Link To field.
  3. Press F4. The system will retrieve the selected screen.
  4. Press F4 to return to the original screen.

Example: Access the D02 Agency Profile using the INTERRUPT function.

  1. From a screen or profile, press the ‘HOME’ key to get to the Link To field.
  2. Type <D02> in the Link To field.

    Note: Linking from a transaction entry functions the same as interrupting from any other screen. The system considers that if the user links (or interrupts) to another screen while entering the batch, the user will wish to return to transaction entry and complete the entry.

    Note: The screen will display the word ‘ACTIVE’ in the upper left corner of the screen while the INTERRUPT function is active.

  4. Press F4 to return to the original screen.

    Note: While in interrupt (‘active’ in upper left corner), the user cannot interrupt again. The user can link while ‘active.’
