Payee Inquiry Screens
Payee Master Information (PYMAST)

The PYMAST screen displays master level information for a payee, such as the payee number, TIN status, hold status and ownership type.

PYMAST automatically calculates the check digit for a TIN.

Access

Access PYMAST through the TINS Inquiry Menu (INQMEN) screen or Line 1 Entry.
Inquiry by mail code is not applicable for PYMAST.

Steps:

1. Follow the instructions for the INQMEN Menu

   –OR–

   Enter PYMAST.(10- or 11-digit TIN) on Line 1 and press Enter.

   If the TIN is…	Then enter…	Notes
   EIN-based	1 + nine-digit EIN – or – 1 + nine-digit EIN + check digit	TINS calculates the check digit when a 10-digit TIN is entered.
   Comptroller-assigned	11-digit TIN that begins with 3
   A 7 TIN for payees who provide an SSN or ITIN	11-digit TIN that begins with 7 – or – 2 + nine-digit SSN or ITIN – or – 2 + nine-digit SSN or ITIN + check digit	When entering a 2-based TIN that is on file, the inquiry results display the assigned 11-digit 7 TIN.

Screen Field Descriptions

PAYEE NUMBER
Displays the 11-digit TIN.

TAXPAYER NUMBER
Displays the Comptroller’s 11-digit taxpayer number assigned for reporting of state taxes. This field is blank if the payee does not have a Comptroller taxpayer number.

The use of the Taxpayer Number is restricted to the Comptroller’s office. See ‘System-generated Random Number’ under Comptroller-assigned Payee Numbers.

TIN STATUS
Displays the status of the TIN.

HOLD STATUS
Displays the message On Hold if the TIN is on hold for a state debt. This field is blank if the TIN is not on hold.

OWNERSHIP TYPE
Displays the Ownership Type.

IAT IND
Displays the International ACH Transaction (IAT) indicator. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requires that all payments transmitted outside the U.S. be identified and monitored. The indicator ensures due diligence with OFAC compliance.

The indicator will be Y (Yes) if the payee indicates 100 percent of state direct deposit payments are destined to be transferred outside the U.S.; otherwise the field will be blank.

SOLE OWNER’S NAME
Displays the name of the sole owner when the OWNERSHIP TYPE is S.

SOLE OWNER’S SSN/ITIN
Displays the sole owner’s nine-digit SSN or ITIN in the masked format (XXXXX1234) when the OWNERSHIP TYPE is S.

Note: This field indicates whether the number provided is an SSN or ITIN.

PARTNERS’ SSN/ITIN/EIN
Displays the SSN, ITIN or EIN of the two partners required for the setup of a partnership when the OWNERSHIP TYPE is P.

Note: This field indicates whether the number provided is an SSN, ITIN or EIN.

PARTNERS’ NAMES
Displays the partner name for the SSN, ITIN or EIN when the OWNERSHIP TYPE is P.

TEXAS CHARTER NUMBER
Displays the 10-digit charter number assigned by the Texas Secretary of State (preceding zeros are suppressed). Displays only if the OWNERSHIP TYPE is one of the following:

• Texas Corporation (T)
• Professional Corporation (C)
• Professional Association (A)
• Texas Limited Partnership (L)
