Summary Inquiries vs. Record Inquiries
Summary Inquiries
Summary Inquiries summarize data from the Cash Control, Appropriation, and Agency/Fund tables. All records matching the key elements input are summarized without regard to key elements not entered.
For example, the 59 Appropriation Summary Inquiry will show the Appropriation activity across Appropriated Funds if the Appropriated Fund field is left blank. This screen will also reflect activity for a specific Appropriated Fund if one is designated in the Appropriated Fund field.
The amounts shown on the 59 Appropriation Summary Inquiry screen below represent the total of all appropriated funds for Agency 999’s Survey and Certification Appropriation.

Note: This 59 Appropriation Summary Inquiry screen does not have scrolling capability.
Record Inquiries
Record Inquiries display financial data from tables, using the control key and access path. Once a record is retrieved, a user can scroll to the next record.
For example, the 62 Appropriation Record Inquiry will allow scrolling through the Appropriated Funds associated with a particular Appropriation. If a user leaves Appropriated Fund blank, the system will default to the first Appropriated Fund for the Appropriation. Pressing F8 will scroll to the next Appropriated Fund for the Appropriation. Refer to the discussion on access paths earlier in this chapter for an example of scrolling through subsequent records.
