Sequence of Events for Debtors
Direct Deposit Suspended

When a payment is made to a payee on hold who is also set up for direct deposit, the direct deposit instructions are ignored and a warrant is issued instead.

  • The direct deposit instructions remain in suspense until the hold record is released.
  • When the held warrant is released, it remains a warrant and cannot be converted to a direct deposit payment.
  • Direct deposit will resume automatically when the payee is released from hold if the instructions have not been deleted or purged.
  • Custodial agencies must ensure the direct deposit instructions stay current to prevent erroneous payments once the hold is released.

Note: TINS will not allow direct deposit instructions to be set up for payees on hold for delinquent child support, although updates can be made to existing instructions. The child support hold must be released before direct deposit instructions may be set up.
