TINS 84265: Payee Number Change/Merge Notification Register

Overview

This register lists number change and merge transactions processed by Comptroller staff. Number change transactions change a payee’s TIN to a different TIN. Number merge transactions merge two TINs together with one of the two TINs as the “surviving” TIN.

The register is sorted by categories of number merges and number changes and by TIN within category, with the lowest number first.

Purpose

This register is generated for each agency that paid or reimbursed the TIN(s) being changed or merged within the previous 12 months. The purpose of the register is to notify paying agencies of the new TIN for a change transaction and the surviving TIN from a merge transaction. Transactions and/or payments attempting to process under the old TINs will not process after the number change or merge. Agencies should review the register to determine the appropriate updates to their internal systems to prevent delays when processing payments to their payees.

Field Descriptions

REGISTER ID
Displays the unique register number, TINS 84265.

AGENCY NUMBER
Displays the three-digit agency number for remote print distribution.

PAGE
Displays the sequential number for each page.

RUN DATE
Displays the date (MM/DD/YY) the number change or merge transaction was processed.

REGISTER TITLE
Displays the name of the register.

AGENCY NUMBER
Displays the three-digit agency number of the agency that paid or reimbursed the TIN within the prior 12 months.

TYPE
Displays MERGE or CHANGE to indicate whether the transaction was a number change or number merge.

OLD PAYEE NUMBER
Displays the 11-digit TIN under which the payee was formerly paid or reimbursed.

NEW PAYEE NUMBER
Displays the 11-digit TIN under which the payee is to be paid or reimbursed in the future.

DIRECT DEPOSIT
Displays YES or NO to indicate if the mail code on the old TIN had direct deposit information that was transferred to the new or surviving TIN.

MAIL CODE
Displays the mail codes paid or reimbursed by the agency on the old TIN when the number change or merge was processed.
