TINS Inquiry

Lesson 4: Additional Inquiry Screens

PAYNAM – Payee Name Search Screen

The Payee Name Search (PAYNAM) screen can help verify if an entity is established in TINS when the user knows only the entity name.

Research done by name should not be the only resource used for verification of a payee’s or debtor’s identity in the system. Agencies should use information found on PAYNAM in conjunction with documentation or communications provided by the payee or debtor.

Accessing PAYNAM

Access to the PAYNAM screen is by Line 1 (command line) ― it is not accessible through the INQMEN screen.

See the Tips section of this training to:

  • Learn how to do a cross-reference inquiry
    or
  • Jump from PAYNAM to other TINS screens without losing your search results

How data is displayed in PAYNAM

Data displayed on the PAYNAM screen is in numerical order by payee number (TIN), which helps to determine if multiple mail codes exist under the payee’s TIN.

PAYNAM screen field descriptions

Descriptions of key fields and search options are listed below the screen shots. You can also hover your cursor over purple field names in the screen shots to view descriptions.
