Lesson 4: Additional Inquiry Screens

Payee Name Search (PAYNAM)

PAYNAM is used to search for a payee’s TIN when the SSN, ITIN or EIN is not known and only the name is available.

Accessing PAYNAM

Access to PAYNAM is by Line 1 only. It is not accessible from INQMEN.

There are two methods you can use for a PAYNAM search:

Method 1: Enter only the screen ID PAYNAM on Line 1 and press Enter. TINS displays the required and optional entry fields.

1. From your PAYNAM results screen, overtype the information on Line 1 by entering:

  • X/(Six-letter screen ID).(11-digit TIN). Example: X/PYADDR.7XXXXXXXXX3.
  • Press End on your keyboard to delete all data that displays after the 11-digit TIN on Line 1.
