Agency-Specific Provisions
Supplemental Pay from a County or Municipality – Department of Family and Protective Services

Background

Certain employees of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) may qualify for a salary supplement paid by a county or municipality.

Determining Eligibility

The employee’s duties must include providing services relating to the provision of child protective services and adult protective services.

The employee must have been performing these duties within the applicable DFPS region for at least six months. Work performed in the same position but in a different region cannot be counted towards the six-month requirement.

Supplement Amount

The county or municipality pays the salary supplement out of its own funds and sets the amount. Per Texas Human Resources Code, Section 40.0321, the County Supplemental Pay is excluded from the reporting requirement for the Salary Supplementation Report in Government Code, Section 659.020. For more, see Salary Supplements Paid from Sources Other Than Appropriated Funds (FPP F.031).
