TINS Warrant Hold

Lesson 8: Releasing Holds

Held Warrant Reports

There are two TINS reports that allow state agencies to monitor state payments on hold — these reports should be reviewed daily:

  • TINS6206 Held Warrant Report for Hold Source Agency
  • TINS6204 Held Warrant Report for Issuing Agency

TINS6206 Held Warrant Report for Hold Source Agency

The TINS6206 report:

  • Is a valuable tool used by hold source agencies to monitor warrants they have on hold — the report helps the hold source agency determine when a warrant is ready to be offset against the debt.
  • Is used by agencies to track their held warrants for repayment plans or to release specific held warrants.

Three-digit agency number for agency that issues the warrant.
HOLD RSN
Three-digit hold reason code.

TINS6204 Held Warrant Report for Issuing Agency

The TINS6204 report allows paying agencies to view the held warrants they issued that are on hold at the Comptroller’s office.
The report also provides:

  • Details of the payment
  • The hold source agency number
  • The hold source reason code

Again, daily review of the TINS6204 report is recommended.

Cancelling a held warrant issued in error

Remember that agencies only have 30 days to cancel a held warrant if it was issued in error. If not cancelled, it is offset and the issuing agency must recoup the funds from the hold source agency!
