Paying Agency Releasing a Held Warrant

There are two reasons why a paying agency can request the release of a held warrant: 

  1. If the warrant was issued (even partially) from federal funds* (The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance [ALN] number must be provided on the release form).
  2. If the warrant was issued in error and needs to be cancelled and the paying agency has the required permission from the hold source agencies.

*For the release of federal funds, the Warrant Release or Reinstatement Request form (00-432) must be completed and submitted to the Payment Services section of the Comptroller’s office.

Note: When an agency cancels a held warrant, a report is generated and Payment Services releases the warrant as cancelled in TINS and destroys the actual warrant.
