Certain individuals may purchase previously withdrawn retirement service or establish service credit.

Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS)

The ERS board of trustees may adopt rules and procedures for establishing or reestablishing service credit through payroll deduction.

ERS has advised the Comptroller’s office that payroll deduction is not an option for purchasing retirement service credit at the present time. Employees should be directed to contact ERS for current eligibility information on service credit purchases and payment options.

Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS)

A contributing member of TRS may be eligible to establish or reestablish service credit via payroll deduction.

Employees should be directed to contact TRS for current eligibility information on service credit purchases and payment options.

Judicial Retirement System of Texas Plan I (JRS-1) or Plan II (JRS-2)

The ERS board of trustees may adopt rules and procedures for establishing or reestablishing service credit through payroll deduction.

ERS has advised the Comptroller’s office that payroll deduction is not an option for purchasing retirement service credit at the present time. Employees should be directed to contact ERS for current eligibility information on service credit purchases and payment options.
