Note 10 – Up to 15% de Minimis Indirect Cost Rate
Title 2, Section 200.414(f) of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) allows certain non-federal agencies that never received a negotiated federal indirect cost rate to instead use a de minimis indirect cost rate up to 15% to recover allowable indirect costs for federal grants and cooperative agreements. If the agency elects to use a de minimis indirect cost rate up to 15%, the agency must continue to use the de minimis indirect cost rate up to 15% for all federal awards until the agency negotiates a cost rate (which the non-federal agency may apply to do at any time).
In the SEFA web application, under the Notes navigation menu, select Note 10 and disclose whether or not the agency elected to use a de minimis indirect cost rate up to 15%:
- Select either Yes or No.
- Enter the de minimis indirect cost rate up to 15% that your agency elected to use in the
COMMENT
field. - Click Save.
Note: Agencies must enter responses for Note 10 in the SEFA web application prior to the final SEFA certification process. If not, the final certification will fail.
