TINS Inquiry
Lesson 2: Navigating the System
Line 1 (Command Line)
Some users prefer to navigate TINS screens by entering the screen T-code on Line 1 (command line). This method can be convenient for navigating from screen to screen in succession but the user must know the various screen T–codes in advance. For a list of available TINS screen T-codes, see the TINS Codes section of TexPayment Resource.
More on TINS inquiry screens
All TINS inquiry screens provide a TIN’s check digit (last digit of the 11-digit TIN) when the TIN’s first 10 digits (prefix [one digit] + base number [nine digits]) are entered.
In the case of SSNs and ITINs, payees are recalled on TINS inquiry screens using either:
- The SSN/ITIN number with 2 as the prefix
– or – - The 11 digit system-assigned number with 7 as the prefix
If the 2-prefix number is entered into the system and a record exists, the system flips the number to the system-assigned 7-prefix number, as SSNs and ITINs are kept confidential in TINS.
In the example below, the user enters a 2 (prefix) + 000000000 (SSN) to view a record.

PYADDR.2000000000
Because there is an existing payee, the system-assigned 7 number (79000051287) displays. The final 7 is the check digit.
