How to Use the IAT IND

When the IAT IND field is set to Y on the payee master record, it is displayed on several TINS inquiry screens until there is a need to delete the Y. This indicator provides agencies with the means to monitor a payee’s intent to transfer payments outside the United States as multiple agencies may issue payments to the same payee. This monitoring should be a part of each paying agency’s due diligence prior to issuing payments as an effort to comply with the federal OFAC requirements.

The indicator also helps to minimize the payee’s need to respond to the IAT question and submission of the form 74-227 to each agency it submits a direct deposit authorization form.

Research

Before making a payment to a payee, agencies should research TINS inquiry screens for the IAT indicator. If it has been set up, the field displays as IAT IND: Y on the following inquiry screens; otherwise, the field will be BLANK:

• Payee Master Information (PYMAST)
• Payee Mail Code Information (PYADDR)
• Payee Distribution – Direct Deposit (PYDIST)
• Payee Payment Information (PYWRNT)
• Payee Voucher History (PVOUIN)
• Vendor Payment Information Menu (PAYVEN) sub-screen PYVEN1
