USAS Subsystem Capabilities
USAS contains six subsystems:
- Project Accounting
- Grant Accounting
- Recurring transactions
- Program and cost accounting (cost allocation)
- Document tracking
- Reporting
Project/Grant Accounting
The project/grant accounting function provides a method to monitor revenues and control expenditures against project/grant budgets. It also provides:
- The ability to account for and control projects and project/grant phases.
- Online entry, online inquiry, updates of project/grant control information, and reports on project financial information.
Recurring Transactions
The recurring transaction function provides a method to record data elements to define recurring transactions and generation schedules. It also provides: An automatic posting of recurring transactions.
- A predefined coding block to reduce posting errors.
- A reduction in the amount of manual effort required to enter similar transactions.
Program and Cost Accounting
The program and cost accounting function allocates indirect costs from expenditure transactions to cost pools to records the full costs of grants and projects.
Document Tracking
The document tracking function allows a document to receive multiple action codes for approval and provides a document status.
Reporting
The reporting function provides methods to:
- Produce financial output tailored specifically to an agency’s needs by allowing each requestable report to be customized.
- Produce both control and ad hoc reports.
