State Preferences in Procuring Goods and Services
Purchases of Vehicles
A state agency authorized to purchase passenger vehicles or other ground transportation vehicles for general use must purchase economical, fuel-efficient vehicles assembled in the United States, unless such a purchase would have a significant detrimental effect on the intended use of the vehicle.
This requirement does not apply to a vehicle acquired by the Texas Transportation Institute for the purpose of performing crash tests and related research.
