Purchases of Real Property by the Texas Facilities Commission
The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) may:
- Acquire necessary real property and modernize, remodel, build or equip buildings for state purposes; and
- Contract as necessary to accomplish these purposes.
TFC may take action and contract to obtain sites it considers necessary for the orderly future development of the state building program.
TFC may select and purchase a site in a municipality in this state to construct a state office building and adjoining parking spaces if the construction is considered necessary to house a state department or agency in the municipality.
Definitions:
- state agency

- A department, commission, board, office or other agency in the executive branch of state government created by the state constitution or a state statute.
- The Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeals, a court of appeals or the Texas Judicial Council.
- A university system or an institution of higher education as defined by Texas Education Code Section 61.003, except a public junior college.
