Lesson 2: Online Entry Screens

Payee Mail Code Setup (PMCTUP) – Existing Payee

If the payment address provided by the payee on the application form does not match an existing mail code for a payee already in TINS, you can set up a new mail code using PMCTUP.

Step 1: Access PMCTUP using one of two options:

  • TINS – Update Menu (PYMENU).
    • Type PYMENU on Line 1 on any TINS screen and press Enter.
    • Enter C in the ENTER OPTION field and press Enter to display the PMCTUP screen.

  • Line 1 Entry requires users to know the six-letter screen ID.
    • Enter PMCTUP on Line 1 and press Enter.

Step 2: The payee’s 11-digit TIN is required in the PAYEE NUMBER field. Only inquiry screens allow the entry of a 10-digit number.

  • If the payee was set up with an SSN or ITIN, you must enter the system-assigned 7 TIN.
  • If the payee was set up with an EIN, enter the 11-digit TIN prefixed with 1 + nine-digit EIN + check digit.
  • If the payee was set up with a Comptroller-assigned number, enter the 11-digit 3 TIN.

Step 3: To continue with the new mail code setup, follow the same PMCTUP instructions used for a new payee master and mail code setup.
