This appendix explains how USPS calculates federal, state and local taxes based on the data you enter on three screens:

• HMPNH (New Hire)
• H0BUD (Employee Tax Information)
• H0ATX (Employee State & Local Tax Status)

This appendix also includes lists of the state and local codes that you might be required to enter for an employee whose work and resident states are different.
