Introduction
This training is designed to give you a basic understanding of:
- The way financial transactions flow through USAS,
- How this information is stored in financial tables, and
- How this information is reflected on financial reports. You will also learn how to retrieve financial transactions information from USAS.
This training has been created for management and those who are new to USAS who just need an overview of the system. This is not a procedural document.
USAS (Uniform Statewide Accounting System) is the state's accounting system of record. It is an interactive mainframe system designed to enable agencies to customize it to fit their own accounting needs.
Both internal and reporting agencies use USAS. Reporting agencies have their own internal accounting systems that report to USAS. Internal agencies post to USAS directly.
USPS (Uniform Statewide Payroll Personnel System), SPA (State Property Accounting), TINS (Texas Identification Number System), HRIS (Human Resource Information System) and SPRS (Standardized Payroll/Personnel Reporting System) are all subsystems of USAS.
