Glossary
- ACH – Automated Clearing House
- APN – Advance Payment Notification (APN) –an electronic notice emailed to payees to let them know when a state agency has issued a payment for them.
- Custodial agency – The agency that initially set up the direct deposit instructions in TINS. Only the custodial agency can change or cancel this information.
- FPP – Fiscal Policy and Procedure
- IAT – An international payment administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and identified by specific data elements to comply with U.S. law. Due to system limitations, the Comptroller’s office cannot currently issue international direct deposit payments.
- JV – Journal Voucher
- NACHA – National Automated Clearing House Association – NACHA governs the ACH system and establishes its rules, standards and procedures.
- NOC – Notification of Change – Automated messages sent back to the Comptroller's office from the payee's financial institution to identify incorrect information in an ACH entry.
- ODFI – Originating Depository Financial Institution

Prenote – Within the ACH system, a prenote (prenotification) period is a test period that allows non-dollar transactions to be sent to the payee's financial institution. This lets the institution know that live dollar transactions will follow and that verification of the payee's account information must be confirmed.

- TINS – Texas Identification Number System
