Chapter 3: New Hires/Transfers-in/Multiple Employment –

HN8U1, HP8U1 – Prior State Service Time

Screen: HN8U1, HP8U1
Prerequisites: Verification of prior state service
Key Fields: AGENCY, EMPLOYEE SSN

Note: Enter a separate line of data for each period of state service. If the employee worked at one state agency several different times, enter each period of employment on a separate row. Agencies are required to obtain written verification for all periods of employment prior to entering data on this screen.

Note: When an employee assigned to job classes SAD1 (State Active Duty at agy 401), BD25 (Board Member), CP25 (Board Member/Commissioner), or EXCS (Excess Benefits at agy 323 or 327) is terminated from employment, there is no HN8U1 history row written for Prior State Service. An employee assigned to one of these job classes is not eligible to receive state service time for that period of employment.

Press Enter to update the screen.

After the screen has been updated, it displays the total state service for this employee. Total state service is calculated by adding prior state service time and current agency service time. The total time is updated daily.

The STATE EFF SERV DT field also displays after the transaction has been processed. This is the effective state service begin date (calculated using total state service as though the employee never had a break in service). This date changes each time you update the prior service time.

Note: Prior state service can be entered and/or viewed on HN8U1 or HP8U1. HN8U1 displays prior state service in agency order. HP8U1 displays prior state service for each period of service by date with the most recent service first.
