ACR 43926 – USPS System Change

Introduction

Uniform Statewide Payroll/Personnel System (USPS) Application Change Request (ACR) 43926 migrated on Dec. 12, 2013, creating a new screen to display the Additional Medicare Tax Withholding taxable and tax amounts.

Issue

The Additional Medicare Tax Withholding tax rate of .9 percent to taxable wages over $200,000 for the employee only was not displayed separately from the regular 1.45 percent on any USPS screen or report (other than the end-of-quarter reports).

Solution

USPS now has a new screen HP6TX (Payroll Taxes by Voucher) that displays the Medicare Wage information for both the 1.45 percent and .9 percent separately. This new screen aids reconciliation after a final payroll has processed rather than having to wait until the end of the quarter to reconcile. The HP6TX screen displays tax information by document at the agency level.
