ACR 60487 – Mask Account Numbers on Direct Deposit Reports
Effective Sept. 16, 2022
Introduction
Effective Sept. 16, Application Change Request (ACR) 60487 for the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) implements a new display that masks all but the last four digits of payees’ direct deposit account numbers on certain reports.
Issue
The complete account numbers used for direct deposit payments to state employees, retirees and payees are displayed on many statewide system reports, which could be used for unintended and fraudulent purposes. The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) requires the protection and encryption of account information.
Solution
Mask the direct deposit account numbers and only display the last four digits on the payment reports. Masking the account number helps minimize the risk of fraud on payees’ payments and allows for compliancy with NACHA requirements, while also allowing sufficient data to verify account number information.
Reports Affected
- Direct Deposit Payees by Agency (DAFR3691)
- Direct Deposit Cancellation (DAFR3251)
