General Accounting

Receivables
Disaggregation of Receivable Balances

GASB 38, paragraph 13, requires governments to provide details regarding the components of receivables. It further requires the disclosure of significant receivable balances not expected to be collected within one year of the date of the financial statements. Record components of receivables separately in USAS using the appropriate GL accounts. Present components of receivables as separate line items on the fund financial statements and include components such as:

  • Accounts receivable
  • Federal receivables
  • Notes receivable
  • Loans and contracts receivable

For receivable USAS GL accounts, refer to Appendix A.

For the specific requirement for significant receivables, see Note 24 – Disaggregation of Receivable and Payable Balances.
